The Squidgybug Poem

 
Squidgybug can see a change in the world
As he sits on top of the hill
Day by day his garden’s getting smaller
As his home’s being dug up for landfill

As massive big oil companies put up their costs,
And the Government declare we’re all broke,
Squidgybug thought to himself one day
That this is no longer a joke.

‘Our planet is suffering by our very own hands
And we’re wasting so much everyday.
We are all very skint and working so hard
That we’ve never got time to play’

‘What can you do?’ his fellow bugs jibbed
‘you’re only a bug after all’
But Squidgybug is no ordinary bug,
And is as clever as much as he’s small.

As he sat on his leaf he thought long and hard
Until he exclaimed with a smile
‘I am going online!’ and that’s all his friends
Heard or saw of him for a very long while.

A couple months past (perhaps even six!)
And the bug re-emerged with a ‘pop’
‘After thinking so much the solution was simple,
I’ve created ‘The Squidgybug Shop!’

‘You can all earn some cash by reselling online
The kids toys and kids clothes that you hoard.
With the money you earn you can buy some new things or
Put petrol back into your Ford.’

Soon all the bugs were joining in
Buying and Selling with glee,
And the best bit about The Squidgybug Shop
